I'm currently in the process of building a TurtleBot from scratch. I decided to forego trying to do the circuits they gave in the plans, and instead am building these simpler versions (that don't call for surface mount parts...)

These are a little bit easier, however you lose the software control of the power and monitoring capability. But otherwise, these are very very similar to what you will find in the schematic for the TurtleBot power board...

Alternatively, there is a source for fully built boards... I believe they were running like $49. Check the TurtleBot page for links to parts sellers...
